AC24 | Session 01

"Intersection of Archives, FOIA and RM (Part 1 of 3)"

OVERVIEW: This session looks at the intersection of Archives, FOIA, and RM. These three fields, while seemingly separate, carry a great deal of interdependency that is not often a topic of conversation. This session will look at that interdependency with an eye towards how they can actually help each other rather than remaining siloed.

The goal of this session is to break down barriers between the three fields. The panel draws on combined decades of experience in each field to explain where their roles intersect, and how each role can actually ease the workload of the other if there was better understanding and communication. While FOIA as an Act is a federal function, every state has regulations on records release. No matter the level of government, participants will leave with a set of tools designed to make their work easier.
