"Digitizing Permanent Federal Records: Planning for Perpetuity"

OVERVIEW: The M-23-07 deadline has arrived!  As of July 1st, 2024, NARA has ceased accepting deposits of paper and other analog record formats, and agency records personnel are required to adhere to complex, mandatory regulations regarding the digitization of their permanent records.  Join Creekside Digital’s Jim Studnicki as he investigates the reasons for adopting these demanding new imaging and quality standards as well as the application of the FADGI guidelines which underpin the new regulations.  Jim will also address multiple pitfalls awaiting unsuspecting agency records personnel and their vendor partners who perform this work, even when using the fastest and highest quality FADGI-compliant document scanners available today.

Finally, achieving and validating compliance with these regulations will be discussed in detail, up to and including demonstrating compliance in a court of law.  Members of agency counsel and OIG should be very aware of how these regulations create new potential liabilities for the government and will likely be weaponized by opposing parties during litigating.  This is a great opportunity for Federal records-facing personnel to pick up detailed, actionable information about ensuring that your agency is on the right side of the law.
