"NARA Policy Overview: Guidance on Collaboration, E-Messaging, and Digitization"

OVERVIEW: In 2023, NARA issued several significant guidance products impacting how federal records are created and managed. NARA issued guidance on how to manage records created on collaboration platforms, on how to use the Capstone approach to manage electronic messages, not just email, and how to digitize permanently valuable paper records that will eventually become part of our nation’s history.

The objective of this session is to provide insight and background on how these products were developed, what they are intended to achieve, and how they can be used by records and information professionals outside of the federal government.

The session will include opportunities for a Q&A discussion.

It will provide insight into NARA’s recent, high profile guidance and the chance to ask questions and have discussions with NARA’s Director of Records Management Policy and Outreach
