OVERVIEW: The session is a panel discussion with members of the Oregon Department of Human Services and Oregon Health Authority’s newly formed Records Management Unit (RMU). The panel will include the RMU Manager, two Records Analysts, and one Records Officer.
The panel will address Program Administration in Archives and Records by exploring the implementation of a new records management unit. The panel will inform the audience about topics ranging from analyzing legislative policies for implementation in records management, how to tackle updating records retention schedules, developing a community of Records Points throughout an agency, and diversity and inclusion in archives and records programs.
The team is passionate about records management and will strive to inspire the audience with innovative ideas for initiating and improving a records management program. As a brand-new unit, the team also recognizes the challenges of creating buy-in from employees who do not understand the importance of records management. The session will explore how to communicate effectively about records management and build a strong records management community.

- Hearing how a recently funded and implemented large-scale records management program can be successfully funded, garner support, and inspire advocacy.
- Gathering lessons learned from the implementation of a large-scale Records Management Unit.
