Call for Board of Directors Nominations

Service on the Board of Directors of NAGARA is a rare opportunity to help drive the decisions of this quickly-growing and highly-respected national association and shape the future of effective use and management of federal, state, and local government records and information in all formats. The opportunity to work with other leaders in NAGARA allows you to be part of the decision-making process on the national level, driving the strategic goals of the organization as NAGARA champions good management of government archives and records programs for the benefit of government and its citizens.

Board service is an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, to develop skills, gain unique experience and make lasting connections with a team of other passionate and motivated records management professionals.  
Candidates must meet a professional standard of excellence by demonstrating the following:

  • Experience in government archives and/or records management
  • Active membership in NAGARA
  • Be willing to accept a leadership role for the future of our national, professional organization
  • Have time to dedicate to fulfilling their responsibilities

Help lead your national association and profession into the future by nominating a colleague or yourself for the open positions of Vice President or Federal Representative. The Call for Nominations closes on March 30th 2018.. New board members take office at the end of the 2018 Joint Annual Meeting in August.

NAGARA’s Board of Directors includes two federal government archives and/or records administrators; two state government archives and/or records administrators, two local government archives and/or records administrators; and one director who represents “other institutions” or individual members.  The officers of the association (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) may be elected from any level of government.

Nominations must be sent via e-mail to Jelain Chubb (jchubb@tsl.texas.gov), current Vice President of NAGARA. Please provide the candidate's name, current position(s) held, and contact information. Nomination deadline is Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Vice President

The Vice President performs duties and fulfills responsibilities as the President directs. In the absence from any meeting of both the President and President-Elect, the Vice-President presides. The Vice-President solicits nominations for officer and board member candidates and makes recommendations to the Secretary and the Executive Director of candidates to succeed officers and members of the Board of Directors whose terms of office expire at the annual meeting.

Federal Representative 

Federal Representative. The Federal Representative helps direct the Association and provide insight and counsel from a Federal perspective. This individual works with NAGARA staff and committees as necessary to ensure the affairs of the Association are successful.
