OVERVIEW: Archives and Records Management training is important, but how do you get the attention or provide executives, directors, mayors, councilmembers, commissioners, etc. training at the right level and more importantly at the right time? In this session, you will learn from the City of Seattle and State of Texas how they were able to get to connect to those Very Important People (VIPs) and keep them interested and coming back for more. Learn the tips, tricks and hiccups in onboarding up.

Erica Wilson-Lang has worked as a records analyst for both the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and has experience from both an advisory and practitioner level in records management. She particularly enjoys developing training, as it helps connect the goals of records management compliance with the people who will carry out those goals. In her current role, she's responsible for implementing the records program and all records training for TSLAC. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
Alex Acevedo is a seasoned expert in records management and information governance, currently serving as the City Records and Information Manager for the City of Seattle. With over 40 years of experience in the field, Alex holds the Certified Records Manager designation and has a proven track record of building robust records management programs, crafting policies, and developing retention schedules. Alex has successfully led electronic records management deployments, ensuring organizations transition smoothly into digital environments. In his current role, Alex leads the City of Seattle’s records management program, promoting best practices and compliance across all departments.
