My Experience at the NAGARA 2018 Fall Regional Forum
Originally, I was not the person from my Municipality, the City of Durham, who was slated to attend the NAGARA 2018 Fall Regional Forum. When the opportunity did present itself, I jumped at the chance! I had only recently begun my employment with the City of Durham on July 2, 2018, so I was naturally delighted to be the representative to go and bring back tons of much needed information after only a short while with the City.
Truthfully, I did not know what to expect. I was not sure if I was going to gain the insight that I felt was expected of me. I am happy to report that was not the case! During the forum, I was sending my supervisor (the City Clerk) emails of all of the pertinent information that was being presented to us. I was so pleased that my day was being spent with other like-minded people, all with the common goal of trying to tackle and excel at the sometimes daunting task of records management. As the Deputy City Clerk, I try to stay abreast of new and efficient ways to assist with the records management of my Department and the NAGARA 2018 Fall Regional Forum was the perfect place for me to obtain that knowledge. I also enjoyed networking and meeting new people. I was so surprised to have met people all the way from Nashville as well as other places!
