Requiring Salary Information for Job Postings

(Washington, D.C.) – In February 2019, the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators (NAGARA) updated the NAGARA Jobs Board policy to require that all job listings submitted for posting on the NAGARA website must include specific salary or salary range in order to be posted.

The NAGARA Board of Directors determined that this policy aligns with our mission of improving the professional development of government records administrators and archivists, and with our core value of promoting best practices and principles for accountability and transparency in public recordkeeping. NAGARA believes advocating for accountability and transparency in public recordkeeping extends to the accountability and transparency in the salary information provided to archivist and records and information managers or administrators. We believe this is a simple but crucial step in ensuring that we are supporting the interests of the professionals who dedicate their lives to this work.
