NEW Funding Opportunity - The Email Archives: Building Capacity and Community Program

Thursday, May 7, 2020

NAGARA members may be interested in a new funding opportunity, The Email Archives: Building Capacity and Community Program.

Led by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Library, this program invites proposals that foster the ability of archives, libraries, and museums to preserve email records.

For more information regarding this opportunity and to apply for an EA:BCC grant, please visit the project website: https://emailarchivesgrant.library.illinois.edu/

Here are a few important facts about the program:

The EA:BCC program is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Two rounds of funding will be made available, with the first set of proposals due June 30th.
Projects may begin as early as January 1, 2021.
Proposed projects must support the overall goals of the grant program while seeking to build the email archiving community. For example, projects might undertake activities like these:

  •  Implement email acquisition, processing, discovery, and delivery services that are suitable to a wide range of archival repositories
  • Foster specific process improvements to increase email archives tool functionality and interoperability
  • Highlight specific processed email collections
  • Demonstrate how other archives, libraries, and museums can process and provide access to email using community-supported tools

Collaborative partnerships and projects are particularly encouraged.
Proposals will be vetted by a peer advisory board.
Funding needs of $25,000 to $100,000 USD are eligible for support.

There will be two informational Zoom sessions to give an overview of the program. They are currently scheduled for 11 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 12th, and at 9 AM CDT on Wednesday, May 19th. The same content will be covered at both sessions.  To register please visit https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/3707365.
