November 2020 - A 'Standard' Approach to Recordkeeping: ISO 15489:01-2016

Overview: Released in 2016, the revised ISO 15489-1:2016 establishes the core concepts and principles for records management from which approaches to the creation, capture and management of records are developed. This webinar will provide an overview of the revision process, changes to the original standard, and new guidance pieces. With this standard we have digital-ready, technology agnostic principles and tools!

Attendees will learn how the international records community worked together to develop common perspectives on records management, and how they can apply these  in their everyday work. A key piece of the standard is a new focus on the concept of appraisal. Also highlighted will be ISO Technical Report 21946 "Appraisal for Managing Records", which serves as a guidance document to apply this concept.
