OVERVIEW: Electronic records are susceptible to damage from water from floods, heat from fires, power surges, computer viruses, and accidental or intentional destruction of data. This webinar will teach attendees about mitigating these risks and responding to these disasters, including how to:
 
  • Assess their organization's risk of experiencing an electronic records disaster
  • Reduce the chances that a disaster will damage their electronic records
  • Salvage various types of electronic media, and
  • Recover data stored on damaged electronic media

Sarah Durling is the New York State Archives’ Records Advisory Officer covering education-oriented local governments. Sarah has over 20 years of experience working with government records at the State and Federal levels and provides records management advice and training to local government officials. 

Monica Hauck-Whealton is the New York State Archives’ Records Advisory Officer serving Counties, Libraries, and Miscellaneous Governments.  She has over fifteen years of experience providing advice and assistance to government employees regarding retention and management of their records.
