TITLE: "Taking the Saint Louis Zoo's Record Management Training Online!"

OVERVIEW: The Animal Management Services Department at the Saint Louis Zoo has oversight for the RIM Program for Animal and Veterinary Records. The zoological profession and its activities with wildlife is highly regulated and this has significant impact on how records are managed so training is essential!

A mandatory training program was deployed in 2013 and required all new hires using records management systems in place for animal and veterinary information to be trained before being given access to records systems. The training covers policies and industry-specific procedures for the creation of animal and veterinary information, related reporting and retention. The program was initiated as in-person training held twice monthly and was applicable to any employee using one or more systems to create, access or retrieve animal and veterinary information. In 2020, the program transitioned to Zoom, and in 2022 it was converted to an online modules.

This webinar presentation will provide attendees with an overview of the topics, the roadmap to online courses, and a walk through of key considerations and lessons learned.
